First day of school

It is the first day of school and teachers are wearing their special first day outfits. Kids are holding their parent’s hands as they walk to school. You see many smiles and some tears. Teachers and residents stand happily, ready to welcome all children into the school. Looks like it is going to be a great year!

Two is better than one

Ami & Karen Co-teach“I have two teachers!” yelled out Giovani. Giovani’s mom explained, “Giovani feels special to be the only second grade class with two teachers.” As a mentor teacher, I feel excited and lucky as well to have a co-teacher. This year, we’re off to a strong start. As a result of having two teachers in the classroom, students are receiving more one-on-one attention and support behaviorally, emotionally, and academically. Already this year, while one teacher has been teaching the other has been able to provide language support to English language learners, pull students for quick check-ins, gather data around students’ understanding of content lessons, and more! I’m excited to see how this translates into student growth through data.
